Boxworth Gateway is a zero-carbon of 920,000 sq. ft of high-quality logistics space across 8 units. It will generate an estimated 1,450 site and construction jobs, a new bus service to Boxworth Town Centre, dedicated cycle and pedestrian routes, community orchard and a substantial biodiversity net gain.
The BE Design team created a comprehensive ESG and sustainability strategy for Boxworth Gateway, ensuring that every stage of the project reflects our holistic approach to responsible and resilient development. The site demonstrates exemplary environmental performance, with a strong focus on biodiversity, sustainable design, and energy efficiency. The scheme delivers:
– Over 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), embedding measurable improvements to local ecology and natural habitats.
– 23.08 hectares of green and blue infrastructure, representing 50% of the total site, create a balance between built form and natural landscape, enhancing resilience and ecosystem connectivity.
– Enhanced landscaped eco-corridors run through the development, improving habitats for native species while promoting natural drainage and air quality benefits.
– The project is targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, integrating renewable energy technologies such as extensive PV panels and high-performance building fabrics to reduce operational carbon and improve thermal efficiency.
Together, these measures showcase how Boxworth Gateway is setting new benchmarks for sustainable industrial and logistics development—demonstrating BE Design’s commitment to environmental stewardship and supporting client ambitions for long-term ESG excellence.
