OUR WORK WITH NEWARK AND SHERWOOD DISTRICT COUNCIL

BE Design was commissioned by Newark and Sherwood District Council and Newark Town Council to undertake services up to and including RIBA Stage 2 for the Buttermarket and Royal Exchange in Newark Market. By working closely with key project stakeholders and through early engagement with market specialists, we identified that the marketplace should be the hub of the local community, as a main location for local outdoor events and a place for gathering.

The current market has a sense of community that needs to be intensified. Our feasibility work is driven by ultimately bringing more people of all ages into the town centre, providing them with opportunities for working, living, playing and connecting together with a real focus on people and their needs.

As part of our ongoing work with the council, director Anna Tsartsari was interviewed by the team to play part in a video all about the thriving business landscape in Newark.

Anna said: “We have so much synergy with Newark and Sherwood District Council, especially when it comes to the green agenda. Like us, the council is so keen to make Newark a sustainable and exceptional place to live, so we’re thrilled to be working closely with them.

“We are proud to be a Newark-based business – the people, community and location the perfect combination.”
