Joey Aoun - Sustainability & ESG Director, London Office Lead

About

Joey is a Chartered Engineer and Architect with 12+ years’ international experience across sustainability strategy, technical delivery and investment-led implementation, spanning architectural practice, engineering consultancy and real estate investment management. He was most recently Net Zero and Sustainability Lead at a global investment management firm, leading programme governance and implementation across a €26bn global real estate platform and translating ESG ambition into measurable climate, social and nature outcomes. 

At BE Design, Joey leads the London office and the ESG and Investment Advisory service line, supporting corporates, developers, fund and asset managers, occupiers, investors and lenders with practical ESG advisory built for implementation, reporting readiness and decision-making. He also supports delivery across the wider Sustainability, Decarbonisation and Certification offer, including certification pathways, technical net zero audits, sustainable architectural design input, planning support, training and upskilling, and retrofit implementation planning and delivery coordination. 

Joey is LEED AP BD+C and WELL AP, a Visiting Instructor at UCL, and an active industry contributor, mentor and STEM Ambassador. He is a CIBSE Ken Dale Travel Bursary awardee for research on domestic retrofit in the European context and a 2025 Unlock Net Zero Awards Climate Champion’s Power List finalist. 

Outside of work, Joey enjoys time with family and friends, hiking and travel, and exploring new places, cuisines and cultures.
