Our Co-founder and Head of ESG and Sustainability Anna Tsartsari BEng(Hons), MSc, MBA, CEng, MICE joined the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) panel discussion on 8th June in London to discuss “Climate Related Stranded Assets – Why are they coming under increasing scrutiny and how do we address them?” with Kev Copsey OBE as moderator and co-speakers Peter Henry, Jackie Wild and Katie Whipp all great industry experts. A big thank you to Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) and J. Tate Godfrey for organising such a fantastic event and to SIOR Global SIOR Europe and Paul Danks SIOR.FRICS. for orchestrating this panel discussion.
The panel provided opinion and answered critical questions:
What are climate-related #stranded assets? How are legislative changes driving the agenda globally? What can Occupiers, Developers & Investors do to minimise the risk of climate-related stranded assets? How can we turn them into an opportunity to add value and to extend their lifecycle? How can brokers operating in the industrial sector support their clients to enable assets to become more compliant with ESG targets and to improve ESG credentials and returns? What can be done to future proof new builds and avoid the risk of becoming stranded? What innovative new asset classes and developments are coming down the line that demonstrate “best in class”?
Anna Tsartsari BEng(Hons), MSc, MBA, CEng, MICE presented also examples of the work that BE Sustainable Placemaking – Built Environment Design Partnership has undertaken on decarbonising existing #Indutrial & #Logistics buildings by applying the #CRREM tool and undertaking dynamic simulation modelling. When the asset energy and carbon performance is above the decarbonization pathway, a property will theoretically be “stranded” and prone to a “brown discount,” or decline in value. Our #ESG team has worked on providing strategies for retrofitting solutions on the pathway to #Netzero for more than 4million sqft of existing assets and assisting clients to futureproof their assets.
