#CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE – INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2021

The whole BE Design team is celebrating International Women’s Day today (Monday 8 March), and #ChooseToChallenge the stereotypes and tackle gender inequality – especially within our own construction industry.

Director Anna Tsartsari, said: “While it has definitely become more inclusive over recent years, the construction industry still has a way to go when it comes to gender balance. A huge part of that is educating young girls and making them aware of the doors that are open to them – and that being female shouldn’t create barriers to what they want to do.

“The last year in particular has been even more challenging for women around the globe as they have had to copy not only with their full-time jobs and all the challenges that come with them, but also having to juggle family lives and being a teacher all the time. International Women’s Day is always brilliant at highlighting the amazing things women do, but this year I really hope it sees a wider celebration and recognises the multi-tasking most women manage.”

As a business working within what is a traditionally male-dominated industry, we remain committed to driving this societal change through our work with educational facilities and through our own hiring policies.

Anna concluded: “It’s important to remember that gender equality impacts us all, and in order to achieve a truly gender balanced world, we need to challenge the stereotypes and barriers for women not just today, but every day of the year.”

Throughout the day, members of the BE Design family will be sharing what International Women’s Day means to them – follow along on our Twitter.
