We are very pleased to be rounding off the year with the appointment of Ben Johnson as our newest Principal Engineer.
Ben joins the team following more than 12 years at multinational firm Arup, where he rose through the ranks from technician level to being a senior engineer. During his career he has worked on a number of key industry projects in sectors such as Health Care, Sports and Education.
He said: “I’m really pleased to be joining BE Design, especially as I was really drawn to the family approach the business takes. The whole company has a close-knit and community feel – something which of course has become vitally important to many people throughout this year of remote working.
“I thrive off working on a range of projects, where every day can be different, so I’m really excited to be bringing my broad engineering skillset into such a multi-disciplinary practice, and I’m looking forward to applying these skills to different project sets – including BE Design’s sustainability offering. One of my first projects here is the Embodied Carbon Assessment for a new £60M retail park.
“Having left school at 16 and gone straight into what was an early form of apprenticeship, I’m really looking forward to working at a business that supports apprentices and further study. I hope that being someone who has been through that process will allow me to provide mentorship for our current apprentices.”
Director Anna Tsartsari said: “We’re really pleased that Ben is joining the BE Design, bringing with him a great deal of experience and expertise, and it’s a fantastic way to finish off a challenging year in anticipation of an exciting year ahead.
“It’s been a tumultuous 2020, but we’ve been really pleased to boost our BE Design family with a number of key appointments over recent months including Kevin Bayliss and Judy Ong who joined the team as architectural associate director and senior sustainability consultant respectively. They all bring a wealth of knowledge to the table and will help us continue to go above and beyond for our clients.
